With 10 years in the making the approval of the application will allow the association to commence working on its new home. President of the association Michael Kerr said, “We have lodged a robust application to council, our biggest hurdle will be that the Planning Scheme for Douglas doesn’t cater for a facility like we are proposing. The codes with in the Planning Scheme are written with the intent that a dog kennel will be an outdoor facility with lots of chain fencing and no real noise compliance required. The development application is due to be presented at a special council meeting on Tuesday the 31st of July at 2pm, members of the public are welcome to attend. Comments regarding the application need to be submitted to council before close of business on the 27th of July.
Further details and designs of the facility are available on the Paws and Claws website www.pawsandclaws.org.au
