Before the famous World Series Cricket rebellion, Judy Tegart Dalton along with 8 other women tennis players started The Original Nine in 1970. Playing in the Virginia Slims Circuit the players rebelled against Men's tennis here and overseas, due to the wide inequality between the amount of prize money paid to male tennis players and to female players. Now 51 years later the courageous women are being inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame on Newport Rhode Island. Judy and Kerry Melville are the only two Australians, the rest are American gals. FAB FM's Paul Makin chats to Judy who's a Port Douglas resident about those heady days and her thoughts on the French Open and Wimbledon. Photo www.tennis.com

Her hubby told FAB FM's Paul Makin that she hit the accelerator not the brake straight after she did something we've all done. SNEEZE!

Trailblazer Aussie country singer Johnny Ashcroft passed away on the 19th of May aged 94, but he leaves behind a body of work that reflects Australian life in the 40's 50's 60's and 70's, including a song that became part of the national psyche. 51 years ago a little boy was lost in the New England Ranges of NSW and a nation was on tender hooks waiting to see if he would be found. Johnny Ashcroft's song about Steven Walls became the biggest hit of 1960. FAB FM's Paul Makin looks back at Johnny's life and honours the man who recorded THAT song and so many more. https://www.johnnyashcroft.com.au/

Now the Ratepayers of the Shire will foot the bill. FAB FM's Paul Makin was at the crucial meeting and speaks with 3 key players. https://douglas.qld.gov.au/council-to-purchase-daintree-ferry/
