A new newspaper wants to open in the Douglas Shire and while 4 Douglas Shire Councillors are happy for that to happen in the future, they today joined forces to scuttle an up front money proposal by voting an emphatic No! The commercial Newspaper from Cape York wanted $10,000 of Ratepayers money to set up a local office. While Mayor Michael Kerr wanted it to go through, he was the lone hand to go up. There were other things on the agenda including a playgrounds upgrade and the Council is building a bridge, or at least making them safer and nicer. 'The Splash Park' is getting closer to becoming a reality. FAB FM's Paul Makin spoke to the Mayor after the meeting. ****THE SOUND ON THIS PODCAST HAS NOW BEEN FIXED AND THE INTERVIEW WITH THE MAYOR IS PRESENTED IN FULL****
