Paul Makin attends the Council's Ordinary Meeting today and has his say

Douglas Shire Council held an Ordinary Meeting today and although we were given scant clues to the possible use of that controversial block of land in the Daintree that Council bought with ratepayers money, no real 'details' emerged. A positive move to assist victims of domestic abuse by providing them with accommodation in the Shire, something long overdue. There's still no plan to shore up water security for the Shire, just a talk fest. The local media was lampooned by one councillor for not saying enough positive things about the current Council and their 'many' great achievements and the Wonga Beach 'hoons' and their out of control quad bikes was brought up again. Wonga-ites have had a gutful but still no real action by Council on that front either. A Wonga local has his say. A Wangetti Trail update and the local Chamber Of Commerce approached Council for a small grant.

Tuesday Feb 04, 2020
Paul's best mate Ralf Hadzic has just returned from the US where he spoke with tourism heavyweights about Australia and the Douglas Shire. Ralf, himself a wine tour operator in South Australia, is passionate about the industry and was keen to put American travel agents straight about the misconceptions of holidaying in Australia at the moment. In many cases the media has created a scenario that has many visitors cancelling their holidays down under. Ralf was not having a bar of that. He chats with Paul. https://www.lifeisacabernet.com.au/

Stephen Nutt chats with Paul about THAT Croc video 31Jan20
Friday Jan 31, 2020
Friday Jan 31, 2020
Port Douglas photographer Stephen Nutt is angry. Stephen believes that recent drone footage of a 3m Croc at 4 Mile Beach should not have been shared. He says while he respects Lifesaving Qld's motives to protect people on the beach the vision has now gone viral and that's bad news for Port Douglas tourism. Overseas media organizations are now headlining the fact a huge crocodile is putting beach goers at risk. Stephen says that's over the top. He also points the finger at local media for putting it up on their websites. While we did report the incident, FAB FM has chosen NOT to put the video up on our Facebook page.

Michael was in the FAB FM studio to chat about a Clink Theatre production, so Paul took the opportunity to ask him about the DSRA.
