Ken James from Skippy chats to Paul about his on screen dad 17Dec19

Actor Ken James who starred as Mark Hammond in the iconic Aussie TV series Skippy chats to Paul about his on screen father Ed Devereaux who passed away on this day back in 2003 aged 78. Ed died of cancer and Ken heard about his passing through a crew member of a TV show he was working on at the time. He remembers Ed (Matt Hammond) fondly.

Mal Phillips has lived in the Douglas Shire for 33 years and is an astute local resident. He dropped by the Fab FM studios with a pile of research and plans for a Port Douglas pool that has been bandied about for yonks. He can see no reason why a massive Lagoon dreamed up by the Council should be built down the beach end. Among other reasons Mal reckons local traders will miss out on any economic benefit by placing it there. He goes along with Botanic Gardens boss John Sullivan in poo-pooing the grandiose idea. He spoke with Paul on his 'Makin & Eggs' program.

Daintree Miracle Fruit farmer and former 'Ad Man' Chris Beckwith with his investigation into a size discrepancy connected to the Daintree land purchased by the Douglas Shire Council for three quarters of a million dollars. The Council hopes to use part of the land to offset it's carbon footprint but Chris says the numbers just don't add up. He says former Mayor and Green Collar rep Mike Berwick holds the key to the rubbery figures with interviews given to FAB FM.

The Council has made the decision to go Carbon Neutral despite a botched attempt last time with Qantas and Green Collar. Although meetings at Cow Bay and Port Douglas were dubbed 'Consultation' Council has already decided this is the path the Shire will take. It's a fait accompli because according to the Mayor "It's the right thing to do". Paul asked some tough questions of the Mayor on behalf of the rate payers and things got a little heated.

Jeff Malcovish from Canada has flown in from his home town which currently is 20 below zero. 30 hours, 3 planes and 4 airports later he is thawing out. The former radio announcer from the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation joined Paul to co host the brekky show. While he was there Gazza dropped by on his way to a Mocka's challenge. Jeff gave him a pair of antlers ears he'd brought with him on the flight.
