Mayor Julia Leu chats with Paul about all things Douglas Shire including the controversial letter that local GP Dr Alex Bernhardi received back from Council that basically states the DSC doesn't have a written policy in regard to who decides on purchase and use of pesticides, doesn't have a list of purchased pesticides, doesn't have records of how much and at which locations pesticides are used. Things came to a head when a Council employee swore at a tourist while spraying what's believed to be Glyphosate. The Mayor also talks about her trip to Canberra where she'll be pushing water security issues.

Police are continuing their investigation into that alleged assault in Port Douglas last Friday night. A 75-year-old woman was found unconscious on the side of the road on Nautilus street near Mitre Street at around 8:30pm with serious head injuries. She was rushed to Mossman Hospital in a serious condition but is now back home safe and sound. There is no indication of an attempted robbery and she was found with all her possessions and valuables. Port Douglas Police Senior Sergeant Damian Meadows chats to Paul about the matter and how The Douglas Shire needs to have better lighting in many local streets. Damian also has some suggestions for residents who go walking early in the morning OR late at night.

John Carney from the Mossman Golf Club talks to Paul about his Clubs displeasure at being blamed for the delay in the deck extension at the Douglas Community & Sports Club Inc., or The Tin Shed, The Golf Clubs so called financial woes were outlined in the Tin Shed's Presidents report in which Tony Dickinson said Mossman Golf Club was losing at least $80,000 a year and turnover from the golf club’s bar has dropped by 13.5 per cent. John Carney says the Golf Club and The Douglas Community & Sports Club Inc are one and the same. While he disagrees with the Presidents wording he and others at the Club Golf will meet with Kym Rowley and Tony Dickinson to talk things over in a professional manner.
