Steve Barrett is taking a break this week and Paul Makin is in the chair to chat with Cherylene Brooke -Turner who is writing a book on Port Douglas. 20 years ago Cherylene was working in Port Douglas at the Marina and started gathering affirmations from well known locals with a book in mind. Top photographers took pictures for her and local school kids provided their art. Over 190 pages of material and a 150 people across our community. BUT due to personal hurdles and just life itself getting in the way she put the project on the back burner. Now her book 'Voices of Port Douglas and Shire - A Piece of History' is set to be published.

In addition to his base in Port Douglas, Michael lived in The Daintree Rainforest for over 12 years in a beautiful, Eagles nest self-sufficient home. Michael has trained in Ayurvedic Lifestyle with Deepak Chopra at The Chopra Centre in the USA. and he brings all of that experience to his drive time show on Douglas FM Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4pm till 6pm. From an Administration Officer in Townsville to leading roles in education and finance, Kym's career has been diverse. His pivotal moment came at The Tin Shed in Port, where he turned around a struggling club saddled with over $650,000 in debt. Within three and a half years, Kym not only cleared the debt but also left the club financially thriving. Now retired, he continues his community service as President of the Douglas FM Committee and so much more.

A strong supporter and tireless worker for the CWA Vicki Dowson is a most welcome member of the Douglas FM family. On this podcast Steve Barrett discovers the back story that brought Vicki to our Shire and her truly miraculous recovery from a burst blood vessel in her brain. Vicki Dowson is a true survivor and her story is one of inspiration.

Dr Charles McCaldin was born in Kenya and educated in England. After qualifying as a GP he joined his father’s practice in Kenya until the early 1970’s. From there he travelled to England, the Gulf and back to Australia. He and his family then moved to Cairns, where he's lived since 1989. Charles loves all things to do with aviation and his special interests include allergy related illnesses. Steve Barrett delves deep into the life of this much travelled medico on this episode of Douglas Conversations.

As a qualified Naturopath, David has worked in 12 countries, at many of the leading wellness retreats in the world. He has a Master's degree in Mental Health, and is both an energy-intuitive and energy-healer, and meditation teacher. David is currently completing Applied Buddhist study at Nan Tien University near Wollongong. Locally, he offers therapeutic remedial bodywork as well as life-counselling sessions.
