There will be more tips than in a can of asparagus when a Q&A session with Gardening Australia’s Costa Georgiadis at the Mossman Shire Hall is held tonight 

The event is open to the public and features brief presentations from Mossman Botanic Gardens Chairman John Sullivan, Mossman Nursery staff and representatives from Biosecurity Queensland’s Electric Ant Eradication Program.

The Q&A with Costa is a free event....garden judging starts today and will finish tomorrow followed by an awards night at The Port Douglas Community Hall starting at 7pm.

A petition opposing Douglas Shire Council’s Healthy Reef Partnership with Qantas Future Planet, GreenCollar, and Tourism Port Douglas Daintree (TPDD, has been brushed aside at yesterdays open session in Council Chambers

 

The petition – “Stop the Douglas Shire Council from purchasing unwanted Carbon Credits” was instigated by Russell O’Doherty, who is president of Daintree Renewable Energy Inc and it had almost 800 signatures

 

 

Cr Roy Zammataro voted against it saying he was not comfortable endorsing the petition, which questions his credibility and to endorse it would mean Council was wrong which it isn't.

 

Russell O’Doherty spoke to Paul about the knock back of the petition.

Chris Beckwith Response To Mayor 29Jul19Local

Local and former marketing man Chris Beckwith responds to Mayor Julia Leu's assertion that he got it wrong with Qantas and that they were misrepresented in a previous interview he did with FAB FM.

Chris told us that Qantas told him that there would not be massive publicity for the region following the Councils decision to go carbon neutral that involves our national carrier and Green Collar.

Chris was quick to dial Paul and give his side following his regular chat with the Mayor.

Paul chats with Mayor Julia Leu about all things Douglas Shire including local Chris Beckwith and his investigation into what Qantas will do in the form of publicity for the Douglas Shire following the majority of Councillors making a controversial decision to go carbon neutral using the National carrier and Green Collar.

Chris, a former marketing man, says Qantas told him there would be NONE under the present agreement made with Council.
