FAB FM's Paul Makin says 3 Councillors, including the Deputy Mayor got it wrong by voting against an RV Park in Mossman. Paul's 'Editorial' brings together the man who brought it to Council to be considered Cr Peter McKeown, CMCA CEO, Richard Barwick, Cr Lisa Scomazzon (Deputy Mayor) Mayor Michael Kerr and a mystery guest who popped up at the last minute supporting the 'No RV Park' Councillors.

Todays meeting of Council saw a disappointing result for Cr Peter McKeown who put forward a motion to get an RV Park established in the Shire. He was supported by the Mayor but torpedoed by the other three councillors including the Deputy Mayor Cr Lisa Scomazzon. Despite no cost to Ratepayers and an income for Council it was defeated. It's obvious that Recreational Vehicles are simply not welcome here in the Douglas Shire and Peter McKeown was trying to address that and the massive dollars it would bring in IF it became a reality. But NO, once again the Shire remains closed to progressive ideas. FAB FM's Paul Makin chats to Peter and to Mayor Michael Kerr about this and other matters on the agenda at todays meeting. https://douglas.qld.gov.au/

Douglas Shire Mayor Michael Kerr has sent an open letter to the former contractors of the Daintree River ferry, The Norris Family, requesting that the redacted matters in the Daintree River Ferry Probity Report be released and that they provide full disclosure of recent negotiations with Council. Mayor Kerr says the negotiations have now concluded and he believes that it is in the public interest for these figures to now be revealed to the ratepayers of The Douglas Shire for proper and 'fair dinkum' transparency. FAB FM agrees and we also call on the Norris Family to give the green light for this to happen. Paul Makin spoke to Mayor Kerr about the matter and also asked about the condition of the ferry as our border is about to re open. The full letter can be viewed on our FAB FM Facebook page.

It was one of the most fiery meeting's this year as Councilors argued for an hour over what Council should be telling the QLD Government re their controversial Mandate Laws. As the meeting heated up, Mandate and Vaccination protesters outside set up by windows and pressed their views on so called job losses over the 'No Jab - No Job' policy of the State Government. And if Councillors weren't hot enough under the collar already, when the Splash Park proposal for Port Douglas came up, it went to another level. FAB FM's Paul Makin had a chat with Mayor Michael Kerr after the high pressure meeting and his frustration at not getting the water fun park motion up. https://douglas.qld.gov.au/
