WATER MAN - After 42 Years With The Douglas Shire Council Mark Howarth Is Retiring, FAB FM's Paul Makin Had A Chat With This Easy Going Bloke About His Time On The Job

WATER MAN - Mark Howarth is retiring from his job with the Douglas Shire Council at the end of the month after 42 years. FAB FM's Paul Makin had a chat with the 61 year old about his time with the DSC and how he used to swim with Crocodiles just to get the job done. Born and bred in the Shire he's used to tackling cyclones and floods, but now this easy going bloke is looking forward to his favourite pastime, fishing. He also told Paul that spending more time with his wife and family will be a bonus.

Douglas Shire Council today adopted the Schedule of Fees and Charges for 2020/21, which is touted as a more equitable ‘user pays’ system and includes discounts for not-for-profit groups. Council will work closely with the Economic Recovery Group and consider further measures during the preparation of the Budget.
